Yurts

The city of Grand Prairie has added a new way to experience nature without venturing far from home. Its new yurts are designed for campers who prefer comfort and modern amenities to traditional tent camping. One yurt, which opens in early 2021, is decorated in a bohemian style. A second, which will open around Labor Day, has a Western theme.

Each yurt sleeps six people and includes a stove, oven, and refrigerator; sink; four-person dinette; satellite TV; air conditioning and heating; and bedding and linens. A fire ring and outdoor barbeque grill are also included. The park sells bundles of wood at the entrance gate for use in the fire pit.

The yurts are located within walking distance of the swimming beach and other recreational activities, including boating, fishing, and kayaking. The park is also home to the 18-room Loyd Park Lodge and the historic Loyd Home, which are perfect for family reunions, corporate retreats, and other group gatherings.
